What runs at Athena Towing

Athena Towing is a working tow company in Athens, Georgia. It runs on its own AI operating system, and every part of it was built and proven here first.

The phones

The main line rings the crew first. When nobody can pick up, an AI dispatcher answers, gets the vehicle and location, quotes the job from the shop's rates, and hands it over. Customers can text for a quote too. Watchdogs flag dead air and phones that keep missing calls.

Motor-club billing

The data entry is pre-filled across all the major motor-club billing portals. Dispatches are matched to the job in Towbook, the return-trip miles are calculated from the real addresses, charges are checked against each club's rules, and invoices are built for review and submitted. Return miles that have to be called in are worked out ahead of the call, and dispatches that arrive by email become Towbook calls on their own. A person still reviews and handles the exceptions, but by Nick's count it cut about 90% of the time spent in billing portals.

Payroll

Every Monday, driver commissions are calculated from the week's jobs using the shop's real rules — per-driver rates, a dispatcher fee on certain calls, and gone-on-arrival pay. The result is a payout plan the owner reviews and approves.

The crew

The driver roster syncs from the dispatch software every day, so new drivers are never missing from the call rotation, and the owner gets daily digests of what came in and what was missed.

The numbers

Jobs feed reporting on revenue per mile and call mix. The books are built from the real bank feed, with transactions auto-categorized and card payouts reconciled. The system builds and audits the website and manages Google Ads, and completed paid tows go back to Google Ads as conversions, valued by each job's profit.

The advisors

Every morning, evening, week, and month the system sends the owner a brief: what came in, what was missed, what got billed, what's due, and how ad spend compares to paid jobs.

What I stopped paying for

  • Marketing agency: About $500/mo in commission on ad spend → Ads run in-house (saves $500/mo)
  • Monthly accountant: $300/mo → Books built from the bank (saves $300/mo)
  • Towbook: $319/mo premium tier → $109/mo base tier (saves $210/mo)
  • QuickBooks: $80/mo + countless hours reconciling → Cancelled (saves $80/mo)
  • Phone software: $55/mo → Cancelled (saves $55/mo)
  • Tax advisor: $100/mo → Daily tax projections + advisor (saves $100/mo)
  • Website & SEO help: $100/mo → Built, deployed, audited weekly (saves $100/mo)

That's $16,140 a year, before you count the hours of reconciling it gave back.

What it took

None of this worked perfectly the first time. Motor-club portals change, phone carriers behave in surprising ways, and pay rules have exceptions nobody wrote down. Every one of those lessons is now a test or a guardrail — which is the part a new client gets for free.

The territory promises

Your 30-mile zone: I won't sell my system to, or consult with, any other tow company within 30 miles of you for three years, and for as long after that as I'm still doing contracted work for you. We don't take on towing companies that compete with Athena Towing in the Athens, Georgia market.
